Yesterday I had a very exciting yard visitor, with a strange coincidence.

Late in the afternoon on Father's Day, an adult Red-headed Woodpecker 
appeared at our front yard from out-of-nowhere.  It hung out nervously on 
top of the only telephone pole in our yard, and seemed to be checking me out 
as much as I was checking it out.  It was here long enough for me to bask in 
the glory of the moment, about 5 minutes, but then it left and did not return.  
After it left, I realized an amazing coincidence: the last time we had one in our 
yard was three years ago - also (briefly) on Father's Day 2004!!  Needless to 
say it made my Father's Day very special.
