Mr. Hubick's dazzling photos of dragonflies forced me to order a guide from
Amazon, but alas, it is not here yet.

Naturally, I just saw an absolutely amazing dragonfly, one that I have never
seen before and that I am certain is some rare and
exotic species that has made its way here from Venezuela or maybe even
Delaware.

I did not catch it for an in-hand description.

Description: it was small, about 2 or 2 1/2 inches long. The wings were
black, or very dark blue.
The long, thin thingee (thorax?) sticking out behind the wings was a
flourescent blue-green, something like a neon tetra, but darker bluish than
greenish.
The head also had tinges of the same colors.

Many thanks
Jim Wilson

ps: the four Mockingbirds in the nest either fledged yesterday afternoon or
this morning ... or some critter got them last night.
