Not much to report since Sunday's fun.
Here is the latest:
I put an update from yesterday on my website: www.danhaas.com/June25th
I went to my Annapolis-side viewing location this morning and Mom
Falcon was there at 9:45 AM perched on the top edge of the 7th pier
out from the Annapolis side. She flew once for a quick bit and came
back to the same spot. This time, she perched so that her bands were
clearly visible. At 9:50 AM, she flew again, this time not returning.
I left about 10:05 AM, as my dog had a vet appointment.
And I just now returned from my 12-12:40 PM falcon check up from the
Arnold-side of the bridge. This time, there was no sign of the trio
of falcons anywhere. I think it's either the heat and humidity
driving them to a shady perch under the bridge (and limited activity),
or maybe that chick is out and about with the parents? Either way,
I'm taking it as a good sign.
Anyone with any extensive knowledge of Peregrine nesting behavior at
this stage, feel free to email me off list.
I will return for one more check just before my gig this evening. I
will post updates on my website.
And, I'm also keeping an eye out for these ducks. How cool... I am
hopeful that they'll make themsevles present again soon.
Good birding,
Dan Haas
