With no rain here in the past two weeks water levels at the lakes and ponds are down. I checked the north end of Liberty Lake where there are now mud flats just north of the Route 140 bridge. I visited the New Windsor wetlands where the main pond is completely dry. I also stopped at the Westminster Airport for another unsuccessful look for grasspipers but there was a Savannah Sparrow singing from the fence along Meadow Branch Road, the first I have ever found at that site in summer.

North Liberty Lake:
Wood Duck 2 medium-sized young
Black Duck 1, unusual at this time of year
Mallard 4
Great Blue Heron 1
Great Egret 1
Green Heron 2
Killdeer 9
Spotted Sandpiper 3, two adults and one immature
Greater Yellowlegs 1
Lesser Yellowlegs 1
Least Sandpiper 3
Pectoral Sandpiper 1
Kingfisher 1 female
Kingbird 2 with an active nest
Tree, Cliff, and Barn Swallows are still active also

New Windsor wetlands:
Mallard 4
Great Blue Heron 1
Willow Flycatcher 5, including three singing
Kingbird 4

New Windsor sewage ponds:
Wood Duck 2
