Hi all,
I won't keep you in suspense; we saw the bird. It was still there at 6:45 pm.

I had just gotten home from birding on the eastern shore when I saw the
report of the White Ibis. Did my brother and I have time to go look for it
before my brother had to meet some friends? Nope. Did we go anyway? Yep.

When we arrived there was a big white bird in plain view, but when we
finally got the scope out and on the bird we found it was a Little Blue
Heron. Pretty good bird but not what we came for. We spent the next 30
minutes wandering around hoping and were just about to try a desperate trip
to Schoolhouse Pond when we DID spot it. Turns out it was in the left-most
pond (when standing with your back to the visitors center and facing the
ponds). In other words, the pond most obscured by trees and bushes. Also, it
is an immature and therefore a little more camouflaged than we anticipated.
Anyway, we eventually got pretty good looks at the white belly and pink
bill. The bird was still present when we left at 6:45.

Only other birds of interest were two immature Little Blue Herons.
