Arriving at Merkle this pm at 7, the White ibis was nowhere to be seen.
But aware that the s. end of the large pond is out of sight from the VC,
we waited patiently, spotting a Solitary and 2 Least Sandpipers, a
Lesser Y'legs, 2-3 Killdeers, and 13 great Egrets in flight illuminated
against a dark sky (a spectacular sight). Patience was rewarded 40 min
later as the White Ibis wandered into view, feeding calmly and affording
sufficient view for a few documenting-quality digi-photos before
disappearing again and later flying off southward.
