As I was cycling around the path at the Sewell's Orchard pond today (around 1:30), I noticed a new visitor: a BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERON. I watched him from about 10 feet away for quite a while as he fished through the opaque green scum and beer cans (rotten kids!) around the edge of the water. He caught 3 fish! Hope he decides that's a good catch and stays around!

Also saw a GREAT BLUE and GREEN HERON as I dodged the hissing, path-hogging CANADA GEESE and sent the various rodentia scurrying (squirrels, rabbits, groundhogs and a muskrat). At one point, I had to veer temporarily "off road" to avoid hitting a BLACK SNAKE who stretched from one side of the path to the other! Luckily, I didn't go "off bike" as well!

Lovely day!
