Not exactly a bird that you will all be "flocking" to see (such as a white ibis
for example), but a first here on the trail for me just the same. Thanks by
the way to those who first reported the white ibis! Neat bird!

On my way to campus this morning I spent a little while (a long while) at the
swamp on the Paint Branch trail here in College Park. There were 4 peeps
present, as I've identified them, 1 Solitary Sandpiper, 1 Spotted Sandpiper
and 2 Least Sandpipers. The solitary and one of the least foraged "together"
(near each other) for a good while, I spend the better part of a half hour
scrutinizing the smaller of the two. This is the first time I've seen a
sandpiper on the trail other than Solitary/Spotted which are generally
present during migration.

I'm terrible with Peep IDs (much worse than sparrows even), so I'd love to
have some feedback on other possibilities, etc. Thanks in advance for your
thoughts! :)

The field marks I noted were:
- Size, the least was smaller than both the solitary/spotted, they both
passed nearby allowing for good comparison.
- Yellow Legs
- White underparts
- Black (dark) bill
- Light (off-white) supercilium
- "Beige" chest/head
- Darker brown back/wings
* What I think was a second least sandpiper that flew away before I could
study it closely (flew shortly after I saw the first, but from a different spot)
was calling "dree-dree dree-dree" as it flew away.

Not too much else of note other than lots (~10-15) of Purple Martins which
at one point all took to the air simultaneously when a red-tailed hawk circled
nearby. Have had white-eyed vireos recently, green heron, consistently
hear/see indigo buntings, etc. Haven't heard the chats in a few weeks now.

Good Birding,
