Went down to North Beach yesterday with visiting relatives in the blistering heat, and was
happy to do a bit of birding around the Fishing Pier.
No exciting rarities like Stints, but there were a bunch of terns lined up on the posts in
varying degrees of molt from summer to winter plumage. Do we have mostly Forster's this
time of year? How can one tell Forster's and Common apart, if they're not flying and you
can't look for the wing-wedge of the Common?
