Hi Everyone,

On a run around the perimeter of Fort Smallwood this evening, I was
delighted to spot an adult TRICOLORED HERON. I first spotted it in flight
as it flew from the north end of the pond to the west side (farthest from
the Bay). It was still there when I continued on at about 6:30 p.m. Also
present were 14 MALLARDs, six AMERICAN BLACK DUCKs, one GREAT BLUE HERON,
two LITTLE BLUE HERONs (1 adult, 1 immature), two GREEN HERONs, a SOLITARY
SANDPIPER, and a muskrat. Elsewhere in the park were KILLDEER (3), EASTERN
WOOD-PEWEE (2), EASTERN KINGBIRD (3), and RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD (2).
Gull numbers were ten HERRING, two RING-BILLED, and five GREAT
BLACK-BACKEDs.

Good birding!

Bill
