Earlier this evening (around 7:30 pm) 8/8/07 I stopped briefly at North
Branch (Cumberland, MD). There wasn't a whole lot at the tarps during
the short time that I allowed myself to scan the area. The best birds
of the evening were 3 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER's that flew overhead as I
was putting my scope away. I did not see them on the tarps and would
have missed them except for the short low-pitched "tu-tu-tu" calls they
were giving. I got to see them in flight after I heard them going over.

North Branch
Killdeer - 22
Spotted Sand - 1
Least Sand - 1
Wood Duck - 3
Mallard - 18

Cumberland Terminus
Green Heron - 3
Great Blue Heron - 1
Mallard - 2
Chimney Swift - 2

Both of these sites (Cumberland Terminus and North Branch) are described
on the Allegany County Site Guide
