As a neighbor and I were driving back from the grocery store at approx 9:30
last night, we turned onto our street and saw a Barred Owl sitting on the
ground next to a stop sign.   We were concerned it was injured but it
appeared to be OK.  It sat there for about 30 seconds, then proceeded to fly
about 10 feet up into a tree, stayed there long enough for us to get a good
look, and then went on its way.  

Also, if anyone's up for buying wildlife friendly plants this weekend, there
is a plant sale at Irvine Nature Center on Saturday from 9:00 - 2:00.
