Hi Everyone,

The weather prompted me to do a 1-hour bay watch this afternoon, which was quite interesting. There was a lot of larid movement, the most interesting of which was a probable BLACK TERN. It was distant and early in my watching, and I say probable only because of the overcast lighting. It flew quite directly from north to south until out of visual range. As I watched more distant terns and noted that I could see them fairly clearly, I felt more confident of its ID. Anyway, I'm going to let this one go as probable. Caspian Terns were much in evidence, many hunting near shore and calling back and forth. Other birds and estimates are as follows:

DC Cormorant--30
Great Blue Heron--5
Little Blue Heron--1 adult, 1 immature
Osprey--1
Killdeer--1
Large, distant shorebird--3
Laughing Gull--20
Ring-billed Gull--30
Herring Gull--15
Great Black-backed Gull--20 (all but one on White Rocks)
Caspian Tern--20
Common Tern--5
Small Sterna--10
Eastern Kingbird--1

Good birding!

Bill
