Hi all,

Thought to share a bird story that happened today. I have a Hummingbird feeder in my backyard, and several Ruby-throats frequent it. This afternoon, a young hummingbird was sitting on the feeder, not moving. While watching it, 3 other hummingbirds flew around and "attacked" it. One male hummer, a regular protected it. I left and came back an hour later, and the young hummer was on the ground. I knew this was bad. I picked up the tiny fellow, and placed it on the feeder, but it stayed in my hand, and sipped from the feeder. This little guys are fearless! I look it to a neighbor who is a vet, and she gently looked at it. After a few minutes, the little hummer shook off it's stupor, looked around and flew off!
We thought the poor thing would perish, but it perched and seemed OK.
  Hope it makes it south.
