Fourth time is the charm.
I visited the polo grounds near Hughes Hollow four times in the past 30 hours. Yesterday morning around 7 am, this morning around 7 am and then again around 9 am.
Finally on my fourth trip, around 1:45 pm today, I saw the Buff-breasted Sandpiper. It was further to the right along the white fence. Three of us were there and enjoyed a great site. It was still there when we all left around 2:30 pm. For me a life bird and so made my day!!

Another midmorning visit in quest of hoped-for newbies. Alas, no joy, with the
exception of PURPLE MARTIN and ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK. The
total birding experience was minimal, with few species and few of those seen
and/or heard*. A 2 3/4 hour walk, from 1000 to 1245, with machete-cutting
humidity of about 85% and utter calm was enough for this ol' geezer.
