Just to bring everyone up to date on the WHPEs at Blackwater NWR in
Dorchester County, there have been five birds present here all
spring and summer, since the majority of the 25 over-wintering birds
left for breeding territories earlier this year. Their numbers now
are beginning to swell again.today Fran and I saw 7 White Pelicans
in the Blackwater River, looking east from the Rt. 335 bridge.
Black Skimmers were also visible from this same spot. It would seem
a trend is developing here! How many years until the pelicans begin
to breed at the refuge?

Best,
Norm
