Yesterday (09-01) I went to Patapsco Valley State Park - Granite Area and
tallied 46 species in six hours. I managed to find six warbler (Nashville
Warbler, Northern Parula, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Black-throated Blue
Warbler, Black-throated Green Warbler, American Redstart) and five
woodpeckers species (Red-bellied Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker, Hairy
Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Pileated Woodpecker).
The Ruby-throated Hummingbird wanted to play tag with the Black-throated
Green. I think it actually touched the warbler,s tail during a 30 foot
sprint; then chased it around a vine-covered snag twice. A moment later the
BTGW simply stopped running and the game was over.
