At sunrise 3 Black Terns were feeding over the Star Watergrass above 
Violette's lock. After a while they departed and a group of 12 came downriver and 
started feeding.  At 9am a Merlin came by and made a halfhearted chase. The terns 
saddled up and climbed high into the sky, but after 20 minutes or so dropped 
back down and resumed feeding. I stopped by at noon and there were now 14 over 
the watergrass, so who knows how many are actually around.
