On Tuesday afternoon, in the rain, Violette's Lock hosted 14 Caspian Terns 
adult and young, 7 Black Terns, 4 juvenile Common Terns, and an adult Laughing 
Gull. The Laugher later flew upriver, out of sight. Despite their abundance on 
the tidal Potomac and east of the beltway, they are quite scarce at Violette's.
