I birded the Howard County Middle Patuxent Environmental Area today, 9/16/07, from about 8:30am to noon in cool weather that started about 50 degrees and warmed up to the 60s, mostly calm winds and scattered clouds.
There was a lot of bird activity by the river. Highlights were several nice groups of Chestnut-sided Warblers, Magnolia Warblers and Black-throated Green Warblers, a first fall Rose-breasted Grosbeak and a kettle of Broad-winged Hawks about noon. I counted 50 or more that I could see over the tree line which would put them over the big meadow or a little south. I have a blurry picture that may be one taking off from the river area earlier in the morning.
