I covered the southern part of the Parker's Creek watershed in central Calvert
County for the fall count from about 6am to 8:30pm on Sunday 9/16. I went
to four sites, only one of which is public access, the American Chestnut Land
Trust (south side / Gravatt tract). One was mixed woods and edge, one
(ACLT) mostly wooded, one overgrown fields, and last but not least, the creek
itself, which is not closed to the public but can be hard to get to.

Total number of species and individuals was modest; I didn't go anywhere
other than my four sites (no house sparrows) and I'm sure I missed many
things.

Species total 59, individuals 399.

I was pleased to get AMERICAN KESTREL, SORA, ten warbler species:
CHESTNUT-SIDED, MAGNOLIA, BLACK-THROATED BLUE, PINE, PRAIRIE,
AMERICAN REDSTART, OVENBIRD, NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, COMMON
YELLOWTHROAT, and WILSON'S.

The day started with four BALD EAGLES over the bay shore, two of which
were interacting in what seemed to be a bellicose manner, talons to talons.
Shortly after, one eagle flew over nearby and dropped something onto the
beach which landed with a thud. I was afraid it would be part of another
eagle, but it was a good-sized fish.

The grand finale was kayaking out of Parker's Creek well after dark to the
accompaniment of two GREAT HORNED OWLS (calling a minor third apart).

List below.
