I went up to Washington Mt.State Park, west of Frederick to see what the
brisk NW winds would blow in. It was a really great day; lots of winds and
lots of raptors. The total for the day was 453 raptors of which 335 were
Broad-winged hawks, plus 36 kestrels, 24 ospreys, 10 bald eagles, and a
mixture of other raptors. There were similar large counts at other nearby
hawk watches as well.
