Hi All,

Stan and Elaine Arnold found a juvenile BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER at Great
Oak Pond (near Great Oak Landing in west-central Kent County) yesterday
afternoon. I went to look for it this morning an found it at 9:00 AM on
the southwest shore of the pond on exposed mud with a fringe of
knotweed. Other birds present included eight waterfowl species including
Blue-winged Teal, Northern Shoveler, Northern Pintail, and single
summering Canvasback and Tundra Swan; and four other shorebird species
including 13 Pectoral Sandpipers. Excellent numbers of Buff-breasted
Sandpipers have been reported this fall all along the northeast coast,
it's very nice Kent County had its turn with (at least) one.

Good birding,

Walter Ellison
