Some 30 bird watchers were at Rock Creek Park this morning enjoying
the splendid weather and an abundance of warblers. The highlight of
the morning was a CONNECTICUT WARBLER first spotted by Jim Lemert in
the Maintenance Yard around 8:30 and reacquired by Gary Allport some
15 minutes later. My best attempt at capturing what was seen follows:

At the Ridge (Picnic Area 18)-----
Black-throated Green Warbler 20+
Northern Parula 2
Bay-breasted Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler 4+
Magnolia Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler (first of season)
Cooper's Hawk
Ruby-crowned Kinglet (another sign of Fall)

At the Equitation Field---
Black-throated Green Warbler 10+
Northern Parula 2
American Redastart 2
Philadelphia Vireo (Dave Bolton)
Red-eyed Vireo
Chestnut-sided Warbler 2
Eastern Phoebe

Stable Area---
Cape May Warbler

In the Maintenance Yard----
CONNECTICUT WARBLER (Jim Lemert)
Black-throated Green Warbler (many)
Chestnut-sided Warbler 2
Magnolia Warbler 2
American Redstart
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Ovenbird
Swainson's Thrush
Summer Tanager ---probable (Barry Cooper)
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Yellow-bellied Woodpecker

Have Fun Birding!
