I am posting this at the request of Danny Bystrak. This morning at the bird
banding station at Patuxent Wildlife Research Refuge ("Central Tract"; Prince
Georges County, Laurel MD), Danny, myself, and a group of other volunteers
who assist Danny at the banding station were surprised to see a pair of
RAVENS. At about 8:30am, Danny said something like, Look!... Is that what I
think it is?! We turned around, and two large birds were approaching us,
flying east/southeast along the power lines.  I was the only one carrying bins;
with my bins I could easily see the large bill and wedge shaped tail. They flew
past about 75-100 feet above tree top level, and as they did one of them
vocalized and we were elated. Danny thinks it may be the first record for this
species at the refuge.

It seems they were only passing through, probably dispersing and roaming
around from wherever.

Cheers!
