At Violette’s Lock this afternoon there was a juvenile Red-headed Woodpecker
at the summit of the whitened standing trunk of a dead tree. . Also Black-
throated Blues eating berries and Kestrel seen in flight. The Black Vultures
roost continues at Riley’s Lock. An egret and flock of yellow-rumps at the
canal pond just west of the lock.
