The first junco of the season just showed up in my yard. A Red-breasted 
Nuthatch is still hanging around (such a lovely little bird, but easily 
intimidated even by chickadees), as is an unhappy-looking immature catbird 
that seems to have missed the southbound bus. Meanwhile, the wan expanse 
formerly known as our lawn is strewn with cranky robins.
