This evening while working on our fence, the Myrtle Warblers were a steady
distraction with their rampant chipping. However, at around 5:45 I heard a lot
of other commotion, looked up and saw a few birds fly into a tall cherry tree.
It turned out to be a flock of (7) house finches, two A. Goldfinches, plus two
Baltimore Orioles! The finched left quickly but the orioles stayed for about 10
minutes, and then left.
Also had a female Merlin fly over the pasture low at 6:05; appeared to be
hunting but did not stoop on anything.
I also saw an A. Coot out back on the river; it was the first one I've seen here
this fall season.
Cheers-
