Greetings,

I had the pleasure of counting today at the Turkey Point Hawk Watch at Elk
Neck State Park in Cecil County.

I arrived at 0830 and found birds loafing in the easterly winds and low cloud
cover. The weather cleared around 1100 and with the stonger breeze I had an
amazing final two hours tallying nearly 200 birds within that time. Leslie Fisher
and her husband Harry stayed until 1400 and added a few more birds bringing
our days count to 299 raptors not counting the resident Eagles and Vultures.

Of the 11 Raptor species noted, I had the following individual counts:

Osprey: 8
Bald Eagle: (2 RESIDENT)
N. Harrier: 1(m)
Sharpie: (186)
Cooper's: (38)
Red-Shld.: (16)
Broad-winged: (14)
Red-Tailed: (3)
Kestrel: (18)
Merlin (8)
Peregrin: (1)
UA: 1
UF: 3
UR: 2

Butterflies were abundant as well with at least 6 species present...

Good Birding,
