Having over slept and not feeling that well this morning I decided to bird around home and headed towards Taylor's Island. I ran into several large flocks but had nothing of interest except for a Blue-headed Vireo and two Red-breasted Nuthatches on the Nature Conservancy property on the southeast side of the island. While walking back to my car JB Churchill called me and informed me that Mark Hoffman had found a Western Kingbird on Assateague.

Two hours later I was searching for the Kingbird with no luck until Mark came back to the area and almost immediately spotted the bird. We watched the Western Kingbird for a while also observing the Wood-Pewee (no comment), Red-breasted Nuthatches, House Finches, and Myrtles. The Kingbird was seen from the State Park parking lot. If you park in the northwest corner of the parking lot there is a patch of trees/scrub between the National Park Road and the State Park Campground Road. The bird was working the south end of the patch while Mark and I were watching it.

I then went south to EA Vaughn WMA to try to photograph Sharp-tailed Sparrows but came up empty.
