Greetings,

We just returned from Eastern Neck NWR - we did not locate the
Fork-tailed Flycatcher but can provide a few more details on the initial
sightings. The bird was seen on the roadside wires and one or more trees
at the north end of the refuge near the Tundra Swan boardwalk between
about 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM today (Sunday, 10/21). At least three
observers reported the bird to Cindy Heffley (USFWS staff) and the
bookstore volunteer and one showed them photographs taken from his
kayak. Unfortunately, we don't know the identity of these observers. We
did encounter photographer James Campion (visiting for the Chestertown
Wildlife Festival yesterday), who reported that he and his wife had seen
the bird in late morning but that it had flown by the time he got his
camera equipment out.

We will make another visit tomorrow morning and provide another update
at that time. George Jett has advised us that a Fork-tailed Flycatcher
was reported from Churchton (s. Anne Arundel) earlier this week, so
observers along the Bay shore should be alert.

Good birding,
