This afternoon at around 2 pm I saw a water pipit land at the edge of
a pool in the "Ray's Meadow Park" area of Rock Creek Park in
Montgomery County. The bird settled down and stayed at the pool's edge.

If you want to try to see this bird, take East-West Highway just east
of its intersection with Beach Drive, then take the first left onto
Meadowbrook Drive (or Lane). You will immediately pass the Ohr Kodesh
temple on the left, then turn into the Ray's Meadow Park/Ohr Kodesh
parking lot just behind it. The bird was at the edge of the pool
visible behind the children's playground at the top of the parking
lot. The field has two drainage pools in it. The bird was at the one
behind the playground, not the one closer to East-West Highway.

I saw pipits at the first drainage pool this past spring. During
migration, this field has also been good for savannah and, at least
once, vesper sparrow.
