Hello all.
We had three first-of-season species today at Fort Smallwood Park during
some before-work birding:
HOODED MERGANSER: 2 males on the pond
LESSER SCAUP: 7 on the Patapsco River
PURPLE FINCH: 1 male seen flying in and identified in brush on the edge of
Rock Creek.
Also:
-Cormorant and Gull numbers continue to be good and a few Caspian Terns
are still hanging around.
-Sparrows (Song, Swamp, White-throated and Junco) are making a great
showing so far.
