MDOsprey,

I have just posted a story at www.ebird.org entitled "Western hummingbirds
in the east-set your feeders out!" It discusses the phenomenon that has
brought Rufous Hummingbirds to our state annually in recent years, as well
as three Calliope Hummingbirds recently, an Anna's Hummingbird, and a
Black-chinned Hummingbird to adjacent DC. It also gives tips on how to
ATTRACT these birds (i.e., set a hummingbird feeder out NOW!!!). New
Hampshire is hosting a Rufous, Maryland had a Calliope last week, and North
Carolina just got its first Buff-bellied.

Read the story and get ready for hummingbird season in the Northeast by
pointing your browser to www.ebird.org.

While there, try entering a bird checklist if you haven't already tried it!

Best,

Marshall Iliff
