During an afternoon walk near my house, I was distracted by a flurry of birds
in a shrubby area. I was able to see a female PURPLE FINCH among the
GOLDEN CROWNED KINGLETS, SONG SPARROWS, WHITE THROATED
SPARROWS and JUNCOS. Also, lots of ROBINS and NORTHERN FLICKERS-there
must have been a big push of them over the last several nights.
Closeby, I heard a BLACK CAPPED CHICKADEE in a juniper. Nothing like some
bird activity to slow down a workout! I'm glad I decided to take my binoculars!
