There are some feeders on my deck that I have to step up on the railing to
refill. When I went out the this morning there was a Red-breasted Nuthatch
calling softly and repeatedly visiting the suet. Finally after about a minute
of watching, I climbed up and reached for one of the feeders. The RBNH landed
about 3 inches from my face on the suet, looked me in the eye and calmly
chipped off a bit. She must be an inhabitant of the remote great white north
with no recognition/fear of humans.
