Today I woke up to the song of the Winter Wren. I opened up my blinds to see
the bird and saw that it was right in front of my window looking in. What a
nice alarm clock that was. Later today I saw the Winter Wren in my back yard
as well as a very noisy Pileated Woodpecker. The Winter Wren and a Pileated
Woodpecker where new yard birds.
Other birds in my back yard where the following.
30 White throated Sparrows
12 Song Sparrows
35 Slate Colored Juncos
19 Carolina Chickadees
6 Yellow rumped Warblers
4 Cardinals
6 Blue Jays
1 Red shouldered Hawk
2 Coopers Hawks
12 Morning Doves
9 Ruby Crowned Kinglets
3 Golden Crowned Kinglets
6 Red Breasted Nuthatch
20 Cedar Waxwings
2 Bald Eagles
2 Red Bellied Woodpeckers
14 Gold Finches
18 House Finches
27 House Sparrows
Two days ago I went to the Pocomoke Sand Pits and saw my first of year
Common Golden Eye, Canvasback, and a Bonaparte Gull. I also saw the many Coots,
Gadwalls, Widgeons, Ruddys, Ring necks, Grebes, and Canada Geese.
