This morning I finally made it down to Blackwater NWR to chase the Lark Sparrow that has been hanging out at the Visitor Center. When I arrived Steve Ford and Elaine Hendricks had seen the bird fly into the field on the right upon entering the Vistor Center driveway. With my scope I was able to locate the bird several times although the looks were not very satisfying. We would lose the bird for periods of time. During one of these periods I relocated the bird sitting in one of the trees along the hedgerow on the right side of the parking lot. Everyone got great looks. Also feeding in the parking lot hedgerow were Purple Finches (4), a small flock of Cedar Waxwings, Robins, and White-throats. Goldfinches were also working the area but no Siskens were seen or heard.
