Hello,

Calling all birders! DC Audubon is announcing the 10th Annual C&O Canal
Midwinter Bird Survey!

If you just can't get enough of the early winter Christmas Bird Counts, come
out for the mid-winter C&O Canal bird count.

On the morning of January 19, 2008, volunteers will walk along their
favorite 2-5 miles of the canal and record all the birds they see and hear.
The count takes approximately 60 volunteers to cover all 184.5 miles of the
canal. We are so thankful those dedicated birders who volunteer every
year-we couldn't do it without them. We also welcome new participants to
join the fun winter tradition. We need your help to reach our goal of 100%
coverage of the canal.

This year will mark a decade in monitoring wintering birds along the C&O
Canal. Long-term data demonstrates trends and changes in bird populations
of this important habitat. Join us on this fun event with a good purpose.
Beginners and experts welcome. Check http://www.dcaudubon.org/node/6212
<http://www.dcaudubon.org/node/6212> for more information or reply to me.

Thanks!

Mary
