I walked the old road where the Townsend's Solitaire was seen Dec. 1, but
there was no sign of the bird. Having said that, I would hesitate to draw any
hard conclusions since the area has a large number of Eastern Red Cedars with
lots of berries. The Solitaires I have seen in the east were eating Red Cedar
berries and that bird has a very large dinner table. It's worth another
look or two. As a reward for my effort I heard a Raven and saw Waxwings and a
Purple Finch along with the usual suspects.
