I birded in the very windy, foggy, and rainy area 8 today. Highlights were few, but I ended up with 57 species. I did have lots of Sparrows. Probably one of the better Christmas counts I can remember with sparrows.
I had Swamp, Fox, Song, White-throated, Junco, Tree, and Field most in great numbers. I really tried hard for Chipping but couldn't turn one up. I had one around my home and feeder all the way up to about 2 weeks ago, but he is gone now.
At Elkton Marsh, right up the road from my house, I had 9 Tree Sparrows in one spot and 8 Northern Harriers. It wasn't in my count area thou.
