While driving down my parents driveway this morning I observed a Red-shouldered Hawk which happened to be a new yard bird for me. In the afternoon two Pine Siskins visited my grandparents feeders (same property) with a mixed House and Gold Finch flock. Also visiting the feeders were both White-breasted and Red-breasted Nuthatches. I haven't seen White-breasted Nuthatches on the family property in many years. Brown-headed Nuthatches were heard down in the Pines at the lower end of the property. The Brown-headed Nuthatches arrived three years ago and have been present ever since but no one has ever seen one come to the feeders. An Osprey has been present on the creek for the past few says but failed to make an appearance today. A Brown Creeper and a Song Sparrow rounded out the notable birds seen during the day.

Merry Xmas,
