Paul Noell and I saw the Northern Shrike at Cromwell Valley Park at about 1PM in the same area that it was seen earlier today. At first it was in the tangle of vines at the base of the second utility pole from the trail and twice disappeared, apparently into the vines. A few minutes later it was seen to fly to the top ot one of the sycamores to the right. It was carrying something in its beak which it wedged between two twigs as we watched through the telescope. It sat there until about 1:30 when it flew directly to the same vines at the base of the pole, perched for a few seconds, then jumped into the vines and disappeared from view.
