Lisa and I went to Ocean City on the spur of the
moment this morning. We did not see the Dovekie, nor
did anyone we ran into. Sean McCandless told me that
it swam/flew east away from the jetty out to sea at
around 2 pm on Friday, Dec. 28.

A female Common Eider was very close to the north
jetty and the parking lot, affording very very good
views Bonaparte's Gulls, Red-throated & Common Loons,
and a female Long-tailed Duck were in and near the
jetty. Sanderlings and Purple Sandpipers were on the
jetty.

We heard that the two Harlequin Ducks were being seen
in the inlet from M. R. Ducks, a bar (?) that is
between the bridge and the Coast Guard building. When
we walked out to the dock to the right (north) of the
establishment, the two Harleys were under the south
side of the bridge, keeping close to the pilings as
they swam toward us.

Three Bald Eagles perched in tall deciduous trees very
close to US 50 in Wicomico County were a treat. The
area around Hurlock sewage treatment plant held
nothing unusual.

Happy New Year,
