Hi Everybody,
The Kent County Bird Club will launch 2008 with a half-day trip to
Eastern Neck National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday the fifth of January.
Nancy and I will be at the Dollar General parking lot opposite the east
end of Spring St. at 8:00 AM. We will be combining our efforts with the
Cecil Bird Club and will meet those good folks at 8:30 AM at Eastern
Neck Narrows at the Swan Boardwalk parking lot; if you live west of
Chestertown this would be a good alternate meeting place. Eastern Neck
Island is great for large waterfowl concentrations including up to 500
Tundra Swans, and thousands of scaup, geese, and dabblers. The Island is
also good for landbirds with its abundance of hedgerows, woodlots, and
marshland. We look forward to your company for some mid-winter birding -
dress warmly, although it will be warmer than than mid-week, it will
probably be breezy.
Good birding,
Walter Ellison
