This morning I spent a pleasant hour and a half (9:00 to 10:30) at
the South Tract of the Patuxent Research Refuge in PG County.
Although both lakes are now ice-free, the waterfowl were rather
sparse, consisting mainly of about 400 Canada Geese,
50 Ring-necked Ducks, and a handful of Mallards.

Highlights included the following:

Bald Eagle - 1 adult, 1 immature (soaring over Cash Lake)
Red-shouldered Hawk - 1
WILSON'S SNIPE - 10 (on mud at upper end of lake)
Northern Flicker - several
Golden-crowned Kinglet - 1
AMERICAN TREE SPARROW - 1
Field Sparrow - 3
Song Sparrow - many
Swamp Sparrow - 1
White-throated Sparrow - several
Dark-eyed Junco - 12+
House Finch - 2

Plus the usual chickadees, titmice, Carolina Wrens, bluebirds,
and cardinals.
