We thought it was never going to happen, but y'day's snow brought many
birds to the feeders, as the precursor atmospheric clues often do, and
with them a bright "red" Purple Finch.
Readers may get the impression that P. Finches, siskins, and redpolls
are everywhere this season. But those who see them are more likely to
post than those who do not. So I wonder, what would a broad survey of
all Ospreyers show - with reports indicating both presence or absence of
those species?
