I've had a few folks ask for directions, so I'm send this Google Maps
link to the approximate location of where the male PAINTED BUNTING has
been recently seen.

I have NOT seen the bird in it's Arnold / Severna Park location, and I
have no idea of the bird's recent sightings other than what Norm wrote
on his VON report.

I do know this: where the bird was spotted in Annapolis, there was a
huge swath (is that the correct word?) of bamboo.
When I paid the bird's newest location a visit this afternoon, there
was a huge swath (there I go again) of bamboo.

Coincidence? Hmmm.

My advice to anyone in the Severna Park / Arnold area: If you live or
work near a large area of bamboo, put out a feeder chock full of
millet, and then cross your fingers.

I hope that link works. If it doesn't, simply take Rt 2 (from
Annapolis or Baltimore) to B&A Blvd (a winding road located South of
Rt 2). Find Chesapeake Academy and look across the street. You will
see where Old County Road merges with B&A Blvd. You will also see the
B&A trail and it's foot bridge that crosses a deep ravine. You will
then notice the bamboo forest. You will begin to feel very sleepy.
No, I'm kidding...

The home (that I think has been hosting the bird) backs up to the
trail and that bamboo jungle. It is located in between Asquithview
Lane and Old County Blvd.

Good luck and watch out for bicyclists, runners, walkers and roller bladers.

I hope you get to see this bird.

Good Birding,

Dan Haas
