Melody and I birded Point Lookout SP in St Mary's County today (1/22/08) in
hopes to find the King Eider. We did not see the King Eider, but did have a nice
assortment of waterfowl, including a male HARLEQUIN DUCK and well as the
EARED GREBE. The Harlequin Duck was north of the fishing pier, mixed in with a
number of other ducks. The Eared Grebe was not in the pond by the boat
launch, but rather in the bay side, north of the pier, near the rocks (close to
shore). Here's the list of waterbirds:

Canvasback (1 F)
Ring-necked Duck
Lesser Scaup (probably some Greaters too, but too far out)
HARLEQUIN DUCK
Surf Scoter
White-winged Scoter
Black Scoter
Long-tailed Duck
Bufflehead
Common Goldeneye
Red-breasted Merganser
Common Loon
Horned Grebe
EARED GREBE

Other highlights:
Bald Eagle
Barred Owl (being attacked by mockingbirds just outside the park on Route 5)
Bonaparte's Gull
