I took some time to shoot down to the Blackwater area midday, and with the help of a few
fellow birders (Bill and Karen H.), saw two Greater White-fronted Geese at the first big
open field on the right heading down Egypt Road. They were well back from the road,
almost to the edge of the back of the field near the tree line, among a flock of hundreds of
Canada Geese. This was about from 12:15-12:45 pm.
Then a short trip to the exit/end of the NWR Wildlife Drive wher it meets Rt. 335 produced a
few Harriers, 6-8 airborne Bald Eagles, plus one Golden Eagle on the wing. This was around
1:00-1:30.
